Pop-up Gallery
This is also a great way to reach your audience

  • Look for a vacant shop, approach the real estate and ask if it is possible to do a short-term lease for 3 weeks (or more) Most are willing if the shop has been vacant for a long time. Make sure that there is some way of hanging your work without damaging the walls. Picture rail or hanging systems sometimes are there. Alternately you can also hire stands and lighting. If you’re lucky some will have lighting and power connected
  • I suggest investigating who cleans the local shop windows (even do this yourself)
  • A window display and signs in the window advertising the dates of your pop-up gallery and open times
  • Again, look at contacting the local paper in the WHATS ON and supplying an editorial with photographs
  • I recently did a very successful pop-up gallery locally. The town had a Gothic festival. I themed the artwork (what artist does not have a few skull prices) decorated the windows and linked to their advertising which was very cost-effective
